This weekend at the Little Italy and Hillcrest Farmers' Markets, in San Diego, Ca, I'll have my newest salt blend, Hibiscus! It's tangy & tart, used a lot in Spanish cuisine, but I'm thinking cocktail rims!

Gourmet Sea Salt at the Gourmet Experience

We're packing up our sea salt blends and all of our infused and natural sea salts and heading to the Gourmet Experience at Del Mar [15 miles north of San Diego], coming up October 8 & 9. Sounds like it's going to be a great show for chefs & foodies, and I can't wait! We'll be sampling all of our custom blended salts, and some are even stocked in the chefs' pantries on the demo stages. Come out and see what the latest trends in cooking are, get a head start on some holiday shopping, or ideas for your holiday parties & incorporating sea salts into your menus.

So, I mentioned before all my favorite choices for grilling, but how about trying out a Himalayan Pink Salt Plate on the grill this summer? It's grilling season!

Not that there's a season for it when we live in sunny San Diego, but it does seem more popular this time of year!
Here's what I've been grilling with lately... corn with butter & Smoked Paprika, zucchini & eggplant with Bruschetta, asparagus & salmon with lemon avocado oil & Cyprus, tri-tip with garlic & Espresso, Ginger Sesame coated seared ahi with Ginger Sesame dipping sauce, burgers with Chipotle, shrimp and scallops with Coconut Phuket...to name a few.
Off the grill, try a new take on the margarita--simply mix tequila & limeade, rim with Lavender salt. Or try my newest blend, Vanilla Rose (don't let the name fool you), imagine fresh orange zest.
For dessert, the Ginger salt goes with just about any fruit. Try it with strawberries, peaches & nectarines, melon, or grilled pineapple!

A SALT LEAVES SHOPPER DAZED AND INFUSED
The newest product from Salt Farm is a fire roasted tomato, basil and garlic infused sea salt called Bruscetta that's knocking out shoppers with the big bold flavors it adds to farm fresh vegetables.  It's been zipping up zucchini from Valdivia Farms, developing depth of flavor in roasted winter squash from Suzie's and spicing  great grilled green onions from JR Organic. 
Their sesame ginger infusion is brilliant with seafood, especially wild salmon from Poppa's.  Need a side with that salmon filet?  Try roasted Romanesco cauliflower from Suzie's, a beautiful vegetable that's bold enough to stand up to the salmon and that wonderful salt.
